Guest Lecture: Prof. (Dr.) Bittu Kaveri Rajaraman on LGBTQIA+ Rights and Constitutional Values
Prof. (Dr.) Bittu Kaveri Rajaraman delivered an enlightening lecture on the topic "LGBTQIA+ rights, Constitutional Values and the Use of Neuroscience and Psychology to aid the LGBTQIA+ Community", on June 27, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Dr. Bittu Kaveri Rajaraman is an associate professor of Biology and Psychology at Ashoka University. He was an INSPIRE faculty at the Central University of Hyderabad. Professor Bittu had received a PhD from Harvard University in neuroscience.
Dr. Bittu discussed in great detail the landmark NALSA judgement and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, alongside throwing light on various issues that plague the LGBTQIA+ community in India. The event saw a participation of over 70 students from various law schools across the country.
At the outset, we'd like to thank Dr. Bittu for having so graciously accepted our invite for this event despite it being on short notice. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to him for having made this discussion extremely enriching and thought provoking.
